TREX joined the European Internet Exchange Association (Euro-IX) today as a remote associate member. TREX, established in 2003, is based in Tampere which is the biggest inland city in the Nordic countries located about 180km north of Helsinki, Finland. TREX currently has 9 connected parties with peak traffic levels just over 1Gbps.
Euro-IX is a non-profit association founded in May 2001 that helps to co-ordinate technical standards across different IXPs, develop common procedures, and share and publish statistics and other information. It provides a portal web site with a framework for standardised presentation of key information about individual and independent Internet exchange points. This latest addition to the Euro-IX family brings the total number of Euro-IX members to 59 IXPs from 38 different countries around the globe.
